Overnight in Lima - Relais & Chateaux Hotel B - Aposento Room Meals: On your own DAY 2: April 7th, 2025 - Lima Colonial Lima City Tour, Casa Aliaga & Larco Museum Set out on a half day guided sightseeing tour to the most important sites in Lima, the "City of Kings". Visit Lima's Historical Center, passing by Plaza San Martin, Plaza Mayor, the Government Palace, the City Hall, the Cathedral and its Religious Art Museum as well as San Francisco Monastery and its famous underground crypts known as the Catacombs. Overnight in Lima - Relais & Chateaux Hotel B - Aposento Room Meals: Breakfast & Lunch. Dinner on your own DAY 3: April 8th, 2025 - Lima to The Sacred Valley Fly to Cusco and set out for the Sacred Valley. Along the way we'll visit an Andean textile center and learn about the four different kinds of South American camels: Huanaco, Llama, Alpaca and Vicuña. At the end of the path you will find weavers from over 12 communities from southern Peru who alternate exhibitions of threading, dying and weaving traditional Andean textiles. DAY 4: April 9th, 2025 - Sacred Valley Maras Saltpans, Moray Terraces & Ollantaytambo We embark on a journey through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, to the Maras Saltpans and its seemingly never-ending terraces. We continue our excursion to admire the Moray terraces, believed to be a former gigantic agricultural laboratory, an astronomical observatory or a place of worship. Deluxe Picnic Lunch with Service Today we will experience an unexpected lunch in the middle of nature with unique views than range from mirror-like lakes to magnificent mountains. We will find ourselves surrounded by beautiful landscapes, sipping a wine, admiring the stunning view of the Andes Mountains and having a traditional Andean picnic lunch unlike any other. DAY 5: April 10th, 2025 - Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu Onward to Machu Picchu by Train We begin with a morning transfer to the train station for an amazing train journey to the famous Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, the great mountain-top city abandoned by the Inca Empire, reclaimed by the jungle and lost to humanity until its rediscovery in 1911. Along the way we will enjoy the changing landscape as we travel from Andean highlands to the beginnings of the jungle, before finally arriving at the town of Aguas Calientes. From here, we travel to the citadel of Machu Picchu for a guided tour of the ruins, probably the most amazing urban creation of the Inca Empire, with its giant walls, terraces and ramps, which appear as though they have been cut naturally in the continuous rock escarpments. DAY 6: April 11th, 2023 - Machu Picchu to Cusco 2nd Entrance to Machu Picchu Today is an excellent opportunity to wake up early and enjoy a beautiful sunrise as well as stroll around the Town of Machu Picchu and visit their Hot Springs. Then, you will have time to visit the Citadel of Machu Picchu for a second time. In the afternoon, return by train to Cusco. DAY 7: April 12th, 2025 - Cusco Ancient Landmarks City Experience Today we will discover the archaeological capital of South America, a city of amazing cobblestone streets and original Inca walls, the magnificent Cusco. Today we'll tour the Santo Domingo church built upon the foundations of the Inca Temple Koricancha, the San Cristobal view point that dominates a privileged view of the city of Cusco, the Sacsayhuaman Archaeological site, a ceremonial compound offering a panoramic view of the city followed by the Inca Baths of Tambomachay. Finally, we head to the Main Plaza of Cusco to enjoy a guided tour of the Cathedral, built with great slabs of red granite, a true architectural gem. Overnight in Cusco Relais & Châteaux Inkaterra La Casona - Superior Room Meals: Breakfast. Lunch & Dinner on your own. DAY 8: April 13th, 2025 - Cusco Day at leisure A day at leisure to explore and enjoy the many excellent cafés, bars and innovative restaurants in Cusco or for any last-minute shopping. DAY 9: April 14th, 2025 - Cusco & Onward At the appropriate time, our representative will meet you at the hotel lobby and transfer you to Cusco Airport to board your next flight. Upon arrival into Lima International Airport, you will be met by our representative who will escort you to the Airport hotel and assist you with check-in procedures. DAY 10: April 15th, 2025 - Lima to Iquitos 5 Day Delfin III Amazon River Cruise Arrive via air to the Amazon city of Iquitos where the Delfin III's crew will be expecting your arrival at the airport. Lunch is provided during the transfer to Nauta port. On arrival, enjoy a VIP greeting at Delfin's private port along the shores of the Maranon River where the vessel awaits you. Aboard Delfin III, the staff will show you to your cozy suite, specially equipped with all the amenities for the experienced traveller. As Delfin III begins her initial navigation, enjoy the panoramic views from the elegantly outfitted observation area located on the third deck. The bartender will be waiting to serve you with an exotic cocktail made with regional fruits and pisco, the beloved national brandy liquor of Peru. Then, your naturalist guide will give you an overview of your journey’s schedule, activities, route, highlights, wildlife and vegetation to keep your eye out for, geographical and historical background, and other useful details. Later, join fellow travellers in the Dining Room for dinner. Overnight on board The Delfin III Suite Meals: Breakfast, Lunch Box & Dinner DAY 11: April 16th, 2025 - Amazon River After breakfast, board the skiffs to skim along the Samiria River and its tributaries, where an abundance of wildlife hides in the deep rainforest, such as blue and yellow macaws, scarlet macaws, toucans, umbrella birds, monkeys, and river others, capybaras and more. The naturalists will pinpoint all the biodiversity of this region. This is also a popular dolphin feeding spot so you won ?t be the only one enjoying the plethora of fish below. After a delicious lunch back on board Delfin III, you will start cruising through the creeks of Yanayaquillo, peeking into different creeks and lagoons. This is one of the best preserved and protected zones of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Your guide will use his expert eye to pinpoint all the biodiversity of this region. This is also a popular dolphin feeding spot so we won't be the only ones enjoying our happy meal here. Overnight on board The Delfin III Suite Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner DAY 12: April 17th, 2025 - Amazon River Begin the day with a cruise through the Yanayacu and Pucate Rivers, peeking into different creeks and lagoons. This is one of the best preserved and protected zones of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Your guide will use his expert eye to pinpoint all the biodiversity of this region. You will even have the opportunity to swim in the jungle river along with the famous pink dolphins! In the afternoon, Nauta Cano Creek is known for squirrel and silver back tamarillo monkeys, birds, dolphins, and even sloths! We will skim the riverbanks for small caimans and spiders, as well as insects of all colors, shapes and sizes. Overnight on board The Delfin III Suite Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner DAY 13: April 18th, 2025 - Amazon River In the morning, the walk at Fundo Casual jungle trail will take you deep into the rainforest on 'Terra Firma' (non-flooded forest) where your guide will point out the dynamic creatures and vegetation of the Amazon. Be sure to keep an attentive eye open for spotting surprises! Next, visit the community of San Francisco on a short skiff ride and jungle walk to meet local villagers who have called Amazonia their home for generations. Visit a market featuring amazing arts and crafts from the local women. Following this visit will be a jungle walk with the guides to search for nocturnal creatures. Better known as the 'Unión de los Ríos', toast and witness the distinct colours of the three main rivers. It is known that the Ucayali River, which in turn confluences with the Maranon River upstream of Iquitos, Peru, forms what countries other than Brazil consider to be the main stem of the Amazon River. After dinner, head up to the third deck were you can enjoy stargazing while cruising in to the depths of the Amazon Rainforest. Overnight on board The Delfin III Suite Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner DAY 14: April 19th, 2025 - Iquitos to Lima With heavy hearts, the staff will wish you farewell as you begin your departure. At the port of Nauta, our ground crew will be waiting to take you by our private vehicle back to the city of Iquitos, about 95 kilometers journey by paved road. The Rescue & Rehabilitation Center of River Mammals On our way from Nauta back to Iquitos airport, you will visit the Rescue & Rehabilitation Center of River Mammals (ACOBIA) where you will have the chance to meet baby manatees and learn about these wonderful and docile creatures and why they are on the endangered species list. As well, there are also some other animals cared for by the center that have been rescued from capture for the intention of being turned into pets and other threatening conditions. We welcome you to donate to this ambitious organization and education center as you wish. Our land personnel will wait for you at the airport and give your boarding passes and help you check in. Airport departure: Our staff will be on hand to help you with your luggage and check in at Crnl. FAP Francisco Secada Vignetta International Airport in Iquitos. The return flight will take you directly to the city of Lima, the capital of Peru. At the security gate, your guide and Delfin crew will say goodbye. Join your onward flight home. Meals: Breakfast |
